Summer kitchen vibe continues to this little nook with pops of blue!! Plus my favorites, fresh picked hydrangeas and ivy! 🌱 I love to use old crates this way in the kitchen...vertical. It expands your countertop to allow more vertical room for your necessities. And...as most of you know I love mixing the wood and white. So anytime I can use a crate it just adds more wood tone “warmth” to a space!
.
Honestly though, I’ve thought many times on painting this little marble top table white since it’s a different wood tone in the kitchen. Yet, I still feel like you can blend woods, just like mixing metals is a good thing!
.
So many people ask me who’s initials are “MB” 🤷🏻‍♀️ not mine but I think it’s another unique statement that adds character. I got the idea from @dreamywhiteslifestyle when she used vintage French sheets for her drapes. Then I was at a local store and came across the French vintage sheets and was amazed at their thick beautiful texture. It was monogrammed with MB so I went with that. At that moment I understood why everyone loved them! So I bought my first pair and got my mom to make a few little curtains for our cabinets and this one hides that big ole’ microwave; which I never use.
.
Oh and have you experienced the new Orange Grove 🍊yet by @antiquecandleco_ and @ourfauxfarmhouse ?! It’s so so good!!

The longest day of the year today?! #summersolstice I’ll take it! ☀️ Happy 1st day of summer y’all! Even though we have been living in 90 degree days so far in Texas!
.
Everything is really just getting into full bloom here. (check out my stories) These wisterias are in their second cycle !! It’s like they are miniature blooms. Yet, I imagine them years down the road, how gorgeous they will become!! ♥️
.
Everything and everyone has to start somewhere right?! And it’s perfectly okay to dream about the future but just make sure you are taking those steps now of starting whatever it is that will get you to those future dreams! I seriously believe that even small steps create movement and the catalyst for the change you want to see in your life!
.
Days can be overwhelming and I’ve had my fair share of them with everything that we have going on but instead of letting it over take me I just remember those small daily steps in the right direction! Small changes, just like budgeting, can all add up! So keep at it and celebrate those small significant steps of today that you are taking!! 🙌🏼 Who’s with me?! ♥️ What baby steps have you started?! We are at the 1/2 way point of the year...it’s never too late to start!!

Huge scare last week...and at times I wasn’t sure our little pup was going to make it...lots of tears and visits to the vet to check on his recovery that had its ups and downs.
.
I want to tell you this story to bring light to it and help anyone who may find themselves in a similar situation because we sure didn’t know the severity but thanks to my husbands quick phone call, this guy got rushed in to the ER within 30 minutes to save his life.
.
So I was giving my son liquid Motrin for a migraine....and in a second flash our dog jumped up and took off with the little cup and drank it all. My husband texted right after that in which I told him what happened and he immediately said he’s making a phone call and that’s where they said rush him in now. They were waiting for us when we arrived. They immediately took him back to start pumping his stomach. They said they would treat him like an overdose patient. They shaved his leg for a catheter and hooked him up to IV. They put activated charcoal down his mouth. It took a while until he was safe enough to come home. Once he came home, he encountered nausea and thankfully is over that hump now. 🙌🏼 We just checked his blood levels and looks like our little Buster is on the road to recovery!! 🐶
.
Lots of medicines, even in low doses, are highly toxic for our pets. The number 1 dog poison is over the counter medications like ibuprofen, acetaminophen and naproxen, as well as herbal products. Untreated they don’t have a good chance of survival. It can shut down their kidneys, liver failure, seizures, etc.
.
If you ever question something your pet ingested and it’s after hours you can call the 24/7 Animal Poison Control Center at (855) 764-7661 for life-saving care!
.
It doesn’t hurt either, as loving mom and dads to pets that we take the time to get to know all the many things that are on the toxic list. I sure have.

The kitchen is a special place for me. The heart of a home. It’s where I spend a big majority of my time at home. It is a place to come together to enjoy nourishment and gathering. It is also a huge reflection of my own personality and design. Simple, yet thoughtfully curated and cultured with beauty.
.
My kitchen would not be complete without one ingredient that I use every single day. That one thing is called Extra Virgin Olive Oil! It has been a staple in my kitchen for over a decade!!
.
So, I am so excited to be partnering with @carapelliusa, who has a rich heritage in mastering the world’s leading Extra Virgin Olive Oil for over 125 years! Today I will be sharing with you my ‘Carapell Craft,’ the very thing that makes my kitchen design unique.
.
I have always been the creative type, fueled by a passion for design, which has yielded a home for my artistic gifts to flourish and be nourished all at the same time. I’m inspired by the artful blending of the rustic and classic to the old with the new.
.
I designed my kitchen with a timeless appeal, from the marble countertops to the shaker style cabinetry to the smallest details of the brackets, the hardware and the chicken wire. Also, to the most beautiful stand out detail of the vent-a-hood that I sketched out, then mixed together stains until I achieved the rich color in those old vintage French Breadboards that lean against my shiplap backsplash.
.
Carapelli’s beautifully crafted Extra Virgin Olive Oil belongs in my kitchen in more ways than one. The bottle is visually stunning but serves a purpose to its design elements. The brand also shares my love for the creative arts mixed with a classic traditional heritage. Each oil collection has a different unique finish. The spicy mixed with fruity finish of the Carapelli Oro Verde’s is perfect for dressing (right out of the bottle) those summer salads! #MyCarapelliCraft #CenturiesofMastery #OrganicOliveOil #ExtraVirginOliveOil

The hydrangea garden, the one that they all said wouldn’t make it through our Texas heat. They warned me of the risk I was taking on by planting them in different areas around our home. To me it was worth the effort. I set out understanding what I was up against but I knew the principal with anything. It goes something like, what you put in, comes out. What you give your attention to will flourish and what you sow, you will reap. So I marched on, with many hydrangeas in tow. All different kinds. Who knew so many styles and colors. What I did know is that these beautiful flowers aren’t cheap. They took up most of my landscaping budget but instead of quantity of a million things that I liked, I went for the quality of what I really loved!
.
Then I poured so much time into testing these beauties out. I watched how they performed in different spots around the house. I studied the hours of the sun. How much water was just right. I had to be there pouring into them in order for them to pour out now. Then, I went on to Pinterest, to learn about the care. I became a fascinated learner. And now a believer....
.
All I got was the “naysay” but I had enough passion inside of me to give this a go. Even when I knew I was up against defeat, and failure was a possibility. I had to give it a go.
.
My friends, the beauty of these hydrangeas have truth. What you pour into life you will see the fruit of. Yet, remember this saying, “The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.” So good! 🙌🏼 You have to give it your best effort. Then, when winter comes and they “dormant” you have to just trust the process and patience to know that what you poured into will be enough!!! 🙌🏼
.
Facts...these are the Endless Summer Bigleaf Hydrangeas in the Blushing Bride. (Extra fun fact....Hydrangeas were our wedding flower) They bloom late spring all the way to fall. They start out white, turn a light green and then mix with a pink. Maybe it’s time to introduce myself. Especially now that I might have looked silly over in stories and I’m just sure of it....some people will hit that unfollow. That’s totally fine! I’m not here for the masses, but just to inspire the one! If I can help you shift your perspective or inspire you to keep going or encourage you to use your gift then to me that’s enough.
.
See I started Instagram with a push and a nudge. I kept feeling the pull to tell my story and take you along the journey. And what a journey it has been and the amazing world that opened up to me!
.
I have a strong work ethic...if you put me on a task I will over perform but I like to do it in the background. I don’t need to have the spotlight. I’m usually just fine in the space that I created but I know God calls each of us to take another step...to press in a little bit more...to go deeper. Because if I want to impact the one then I can’t do that if I’m in my own space.
.
People need the gifts you have. That’s why they are called “gifts” because they are meant to be given away. What good is it if I have this God given talent of design and writing but don’t share it with others?! And if you are one that struggles with the question, “what is my purpose,” “what is my calling” then look no further than what’s in your heart and soul. God gives you those desires inside you. So if you enjoy decorating your home and it fills you up with joy and passion then start there. My philosophy is that you don’t need to worry about the “complete picture” or have it all figured out. You just need to start moving..remember, one step at a time and let the journey open up to you! If I saw the “complete picture” of some journeys that I’ve been on I would have said “no way Jose” I can’t do that but that’s where God comes in and He can give you the strength and the path for each step you take!! 🙌🏼
.
Well that was no introduction but as I wrote that’s the story that unfolded. So we will do the intro another time. Surely someone needed this message more. #ownyoureveryday
.
So thank you for being here! Hopefully I’ve inspired you just as much as you have me!!
❤️ xo, Jamie

I would love to come on here today and tell you some incredible decorating advice or show you some amazing thing I’ve been working on, but the truth is that right now we’re in the thick of baseball tournaments we’ve been waiting all season for, and my little momma heart and brain are absolutely drained. Who knew that watching your kid grow up through sports would be such a wonderful and exhausting roller coaster of emotions! I’m soaking up every second of these last few weeks of baseball for the year and taking every opportunity to teach Wyatt important lessons along the way... good sportsmanship even when the other team doesn’t play by those rules, being a leader and positive influence in the dugout, hustling on and off the field, and always having a good attitude, no matter the score, what position you’re asked to play, or the outcome of the game. Which admittedly isn’t always easy when you come off a huge win against your rival to lose in the championship and want to pull the covers over your head and drown yourself in ice cream yourself for the rest of the day. 😭😂 On the ride home, we talked about the good and bad of the game, cried a little, ate some ice cream, and put the loss behind us. No matter what, he always knows Momma is his # 1 fan, and that’s all that matters to me. 💜

For a chick who grew up not being able to throw a ball or play a sport to save her life, raising boys sure has changed me. Tomorrow I’ll get back to posting about the usual stuff, but today I just had to share what’s on my heart. Can any other sports mommas out there relate to this emotional roller coaster?

💜 For a chick who grew up not being able to throw a ball or play a sport to save her life, raising boys sure has changed me. Tomorrow I’ll get back to posting about the usual stuff, but today I just had to share what’s on my heart. Can any other sports mommas out there relate to this emotional roller coaster?

I had the best experience with my doctor that delivered Oakley and his nurses. We would joke around, catch up on life, and every appointment ended with a kiss on the forehead. His nurses even came to see Oakley in the hospital when she was born.
Unfortunately, he stopped delivering babies last August. I panicked when I realized he wasn’t going to be able to deliver our little guy but then I found another great doctor in town.
Everyone was so nice and welcoming but I was afraid I wasn’t going to make “friends” with them like the doctor and nurses during my last pregnancy.
If you remember the story about our kitten, George, riding in my engine all the way to the doctor’s office, then I bet you can see where this story is going. We may have lost George’s sister that day but there was good that came from it. George and I bonded with all of the nurses and my doctor. They all know me by name now, ask how our animals are doing (specifically our kittens), and I’m sure they’ll always remember me as the lady that brought her kitten to her glucose test 😂
.
Anyway, sometimes sad events can have positive outcomes and I’m really thankful because I couldn’t be more at ease with the doctor and nurses that I get to see every 2 weeks now. I’m looking forward to seeing all of my nurse friends and the doctor at today’s check up! Did you have a great relationship with your doctor and nurses? Also, there’s a new post up on the blog about our 4 year anniversary! Better late than never, right? The link is in my bio!
