Nice quality raised bed system. Needed a little assistance for my configuration.This is a very nice looking raised bed system. It has a great finish and looks like it would survive well in the outdoor environment. It comes in a relatively small box and needs assembly with more than 72 nuts, bolts and washers. My only issue was with possible flexing, or “spreading” of the bed in the configuration I built.The long, slim shape I used does not have anything to hold the sides together in the middle. After filling with soil, I was concerned that the bed would spread apart to some degree under the pressure/settlement of the soil.I retro fitted two interior braces to assist holding the sides in place as seen in the photos.This potential “spreading” of the sides would not be as much of an issue if one of the configuations with shorter sides was chosen.

Great productI have 2 together as of today. One more to go. Even though I want to plant in them today, it’s still winter here. 2-16-23. Though in between the warmer days I will get the 3rd one together. It’s so easy. I ( 69yrs) put together parts inside the house and that way I was able to finish up a couple of pieces outside. Easier to carry & place in smaller sections. I still may get a few more. Just because it will be so much easier for me to garden, having it higher up. Thank you for a great design.

My First Impressions!This review will be updated as we begin our first time gardening experience with raised beds so that we can report the convenience and integrity of the product in the future. We chose the Vego Garden 9-in1metal raised beds and set up the 6.5’ by 3.5’ configuration and purchased four of the gardens. This gives us 128 cubic feet of garden space.The boxes came in four days and were damage free. The product was well packed and had all the parts listed in the instructions. The company included a few extra nuts, bolts, and screws. We ordered the olive green and they blend very well with the landscape. My husband put the first one together by himself and then we both worked on the other three, making it much easier. Many reviews mention the difficulty in removing the plastic sheets that protect each panel. The sheets on the inside of each panel peeled off very easily. The outside sheet took a little longer, not difficult, but takes patience. It took me about 45 minutes per garden to remove the plastic film (I was not in a hurry.)Many reviews mentioned that the panels scratched easily. We did not have that problem but I am sure that if I ran a sharp object against the panels, they would scratch. My husband worked on the inside of the panels putting the washers and nuts on the bolts that I inserted from the outside. We waited until all the panels were in place before tightening each bolt. My husband used a drill with a 10mm socket to tighten the bolts. I would occasionally have to use a Phillips head screwdriver to hold a screw that wouldn’t tighten. After the entire garden was together, we placed the rubber safety edging around the top edge of the garden. Total time for us to complete one raised garden was 35 minutes. This is construction only, not removing the plastic film.We both feel that the gardens seem sturdy and are a quality product. Some reviewers were concerned about the garden bed bowing out after filling with soil. It doesn’t seem like the metal garden is that flimsy. We are going to use the Hugelkultur technique to fill the beds. I will write an update to this review to share how this worked. So far, we are satisfied with the Vego Garden and look forward to filling them!UPDATE: My first year with the VegoGarden raised gardens and hugelkultur was a success! I made some mistakes in plant placement and I hope to improve things this year. I even canned some tomatoes and made pickles. I will need to add some more soil to top the gardens off this year and I’ll add some leaves/compost to replace nitrogen. I’m very happy with my first year using the Vego Garden.

That plastic though….Material quality is very good. Aside from the corners being a bit sharp (as expected), the construction was very refined.The finish is really nice! I ordered the pearl white, and it’s the perfect versatile white color for outdoors. The paint and clearcoat show no chipping and water beads up nicely on it.The construction is super simple. I didn’t even realize this until a ways into assembly, but the threads of the bolts actually self-tighten as they turn when you wrench the bolts down. I would still highly recommend a ratchet wrench of some sort or a drill on a low-torque setting. The gasket that is installed at the very end is a great final touch to the product.The one complaint that I have is the thin plastic protection on the product. I tried to remove it in 45F weather, and it took over 5 minutes to FULLY remove the plastic from both sides of a single panel. I later took the items into the garage overnight and it was easier in a 60F environment, but it still took about 4-5 minutes to fully remove from both sides. Finally, I took my heat gun to the panel for a minute to get the temp up to about 90F and the plastic came off at about a minute per side. WHEN TAKING THE PLASTIC OFF, DON’T PULL IT OVER THE RIBS (IT’LL LIKELY RIP), INSTEAD START FROM THE SIDE OF THE PANEL (WHEN VIEWED AS IF IT WERE INSTALLED).The completed product was actually very robust and I wish I installed it on the deck (level ground) and just picked it up and moved it to position).At the end of the day, this product is very light weight and has a minimalist feel and I think the price is definitely fair. If you were to build it out of wood or sheet metal yourself, the costs would likely be very similar, plus you’d have to paint and clearcoat the material. BUT….. the full process of removing the protective plastic layer and assembly easily took a solid 2 hours. Build it on a level surface, use a power tool to run down the nuts, and move it to its final location for best results. I’m serious in saying it took over an hour to remove all the plastic though.Disclaimer: I was provided this product at no cost to provide an unbiased review.

Great product!Easy to assembly and minimum work to level since there is no bottom. Company took all steps needed to ship without damage. You could use a metal mesh on the ground to keep voles,gophers out if needed before you fill. Product is as pictured.

Easier than I thought to assemble!We received our purchase in the middle of a sickness, but it was well boxed and compact, and we pushed it in a small space to work on it when feeling better. Box is small (only about 20 x 20 x 10 or so and a little over 30 pounds). We have never had a garden before that the deer did not get to before us. This will allow us to grow veggies close and in a way the deer and other animals cannot get to before we do.I am more than pleased with the quality of the product. This is not a cheep construction that is going to fall apart in a couple of weeks. It is versatile enough to reuse differently. It has a rubber cap that covers the top to eliminate any sharp edge. It ended up being easier to assemble than I thought. There were no sharp shards to present handling problems! I am physically challenged, and my wife and I assembled it (for the most part) in the house. We put sections together, took them out on the deck, viewed possible configurations (there are many options because of the design), and eventually decided which we wanted. We installed it on the deck to grow veggies so herbs so the animals cannot get to them (we still may revert to a different configuration as it is easy to convert).I made a mistake by not reading the instructions, but it was easily corrected. I put a washer on the screw and the nut but should have only put the washer on the nut side. We found out we could view different configurations by securing the sections in place with just the top screw until we decided which to use. We found it was easier to put the panels together in the house and carry them out rather than do this outside. Even though there were tools that came with the Vego Garden, I used a power screwdriver, which made fast work of putting it together and take it apart.RRR

Repeat CustomerI bought one of these for last season and managed to grow cukes, eggplant, peppers, squash, and cantaloupe in that space. It was a bit crowded but still successful. I got another one for next season to grow tomatoes. Looking forward to it. My back loves raised beds.

Very ImpressedI’ve done square gardening with raised beds in the past. I’ve been reluctant to purchase the plastic raised beds as I’m concerned about leeching. I have purchased wooden raised beds and while they were easy to assemble, they all didn’t make it past 1 year. Normally the boards will warp and pop out of the posts or they would become so brittle and break. I didn’t want to stain them as I didn’t want to worry about leeching. In search for a better option, I came across this kit. First off the box is a bit heavy at 30lbs. Once you open the box you understand why. These are quality metal panels. The contents are well-packed. They put a plastic film on both sides of all panels to keep from getting scratched. This does take some time to remove and honestly is probably the longest part of assembly. The rest of assembly is deciding on the design and inserting bolts. From start to finish it took me about 30 minutes.Once complete it felt sturdy and held the soil I put in very well. I do recommend wearing gloves when assembling as the metal panels are a bit sharp. Also to note is they give you a nice rubber safety strip to affix to the top to avoid the sharp edge.PROS:1. Very good quality metal panels and stainless steel fasteners. I look for this to last more than 1 year.2. You can configure the garden bed in 9 different ways.3. I like the deeper bed. It’s higher off the ground making it easier and offers more room for roots.4. Super easy to setup.CONS:At this point I really can’t think of any. It’s mid-October so my planting season is done at the moment but I’m looking forward to the Spring.
